Technology Expo

2010 April 9

The Technology Exposition and Fleet Representatives portion of the 2010 MPRF Reunion was held on Friday, 9 April in the VP-30 Hangar.  Over 450 Naval Officers, Aircrew and Maintainers attended the event and engaged with experts from Argon ST, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Lockheed, Erapsco, ASEC, CARLEY, COBHAM, DELEX, ELBIT, L3, LSI and SATCOM to discuss current and future technologies and training that directly impact the MPRF community.  Additionally, Fleet Representatives from BUPERS, NAVAIR, NRL, VX-1, VXS-1, Reserves and Primary/Advanced VTs were on hand to discuss their mission and provide insight into current career opportunities available.  During the Tech Expo, MOAA graciously hosted a complimentary BBQ luncheon.

2010 MOAA Lifetime Achievement Award

During this year’s MPRF Reunion, two MOAA Lifetime Achievement awards were presented to CAPT(ret) Mike Groody and CDR Ray Art (OIC, MPRWS) for their lasting contributions and positive impact to the MPRF Community.  VADM Winns (Navy IG), VADM(ret) Ryan from MOAA and RDML Moran (CPRG) presented the awards.  Each recipient received a $250 check and a lifetime membership to MOAA.

Golf Tournament

2010 April 8

The 2010 MPRF Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, 8 April at the NAS Jacksonville Golf Course with 192 golfers particiating in this year’s tournament.  After much debate and scrutiny to verify their improbable score card, the winning team comprised of LCDR John Bischoff (VPU-2), LCDR T.J. Grady (VPU-2), LCDR Todd Copeland (N88) and LCDR Bill Pennington (N88) were presented with this year’s coveted trophy by RDML Moran.  They have promised to keep the trophy in safe keeping and will return to defend their title in 2011.

MPRF Reunion Donates to NMCRS

2010 April 8

The 2010 MPRF Reunion raised $737 during the Golf Tournament, that was donated to this year’s Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society fund drive.  Commodore Mark Turner (CPRW-11) and Captain Perry Yaw (VP-30) presented the check to Captain(ret) Faraldo, NMCRS Jacksonville.

Symposium

2010 April 8

ADM Harvey,  Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, spoke to an audience of 375 Naval Officers in the MPRF community on 8 April 2010 in the VP-30 auditorium.  In thanks for attending the MPRF Reunion and being the guest speaker, RDML Moran presented the Maritime Patrol Heritage lithograph to ADM Harvey.

Online registration is closed for the MPRF Reunion.  If you didn’t have a chance to register, you are invited to come to the event and register in person.  The MPRF Reunion Committee will be be accepting cash and checks made payable to “VP Reunion Fund”.

MPRF Reunion Golf Tournament Trophy

2010 April 7

The MPRF Reunion Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, 8 April, 2010.  Check in will be conducted from 1130 to 1300.  Shotgun start will be conducted at 1300 with 192 golfers competing for bragging rites and possession of the MPRF Reunion Golf Trophy.  The trophy has arrived in NAS Jacksonville and is awaiting it’s new owners for the next year.  Later year’s winners:

The Fleet ASW Challenge Belt Returns

The coveted MPRF Fleet ASW Challenge belt has arrived safely to NAS Jacksonville, Florida.  Combat Aircrews from all the non-deployed squadrons in addition to a crew from 404 Squadron, Greenwood, Canada are competing for this coveted prize.  Last year’s winners were:

The Golf Tournament is currently sold out, and we have filled all 192 golf slots available.  If you registered and paid for the golf tournament online, then you have a golf slot.  If your name was submitted as part of a foursome and you never followed up with a registration and payment online then you are not on the final golf list.
